FLIGHTS
Skyscanner
My favorite feature is the everywhere function in destination.
Hopper
This app is great for keeping watch on future flights. There’s this awesome feature where they let you know whether to buy the tickets now or wait for price drops.
HOME FOR THE NIGHT
Booking.com
Best overall site for searching accommodations around the world.
If you’re going to be traveling often, try to reach Genius level 2 on booking.com for free breakfast and room upgrades!
Agoda
Agoda is great for booking accommodations in Asia.
Airbnb
Want something more than just a bed to sleep in? Maybe a full kitchen or even the whole house? Book it through Airbnb!
HostelWorld
Save some cash and stay in a hostel. I love staying in hostels because I can easily meet other travelers.
Hotels
Stay comfortably in hotels. I love their rewards program where you get 1 free night for every 10 nights.
GETTING AROUND
Uber
Travel safely in 80+ countries without guessing the cost. You can also have food deliver straight to your door.
DiDi
Rideshare & food delivery service. Operating in 15 countries, it’s the best way to get around China & some cities in Mexico.
Grab
The rideshare app to use in South East Asia. Chances are you’ll be riding on the back of a motorcycle.
12Go Asia
A great site for budget traveling throughout Southeast Asia & Oceania. You can find cheap tickets for trains, buses and ferries!
Rome2Rio
Best tool for planning travel routes (plane, bus, ferry, train, taxi) & cost estimates
MONEY
Charles Schwab
Save on ATM withdrawal fees with the Charles Schwab debit card! No more paying $5 each time to use your own money, Charles Schwab will reimburse your ATM fees.
Robinhood
You don’t need to be rich to invest. With Robinhood, there’s no commission or fees on trading stocks, so it’s a great place to learn.
Some stocks are just too expensive ($100+ per share) to buy. That’s why I love the fractional share feature. You can invest in a portion of a share from your favorite companies. Sign up and get a free stock!
SAFETY ON THE ROAD
Surfshark
Too often I find myself on unsecured airport WiFi, cafe WiFi, hotel…you name it. What I didn’t know is that you can be easily hacked when using these unsecured networks. With Surfshark, I know I will be protected wherever I go!
Secure your connections for only $2.49 a month (less than a cup of coffee)!
Ring
Leave your home without worries by using the Ring home security system. No matter where you are, you can use the app to check on the status of your home. I use it often to answer door bells & record sketchy people outside my house.
Amazon Blink
Having two naughty cats at home, I can never leave the house without worrying about what they are up to.
I highly recommend these Blink indoor cameras from Amazon for anyone with pets or children. Every time there’s motion, the camera records a video. You can also speak through the camera!
Travel Insurance
Don’t leave home without a travel insurance on hand. Depending on the insurance plan, coverage can include trip protection, lost or damaged travel gears, medical costs, emergency evacuation, and many more.
Two companies with insurance plans tailored for travelers are World Nomads and SafetyWing.
Luggage Storage
Got free time to explore but don’t know what to do with all your luggages?
You can use Nannybag or Radical Storage to search for luggage storage facilities around you!
I even wrote a whole blog post on finding the best luggage storage!
Leave your bags in a secure place while you make the most out of your time before hotel check in or transit!
TRAVEL GEARS
Osprey
What’s the most important thing to have for a minimalist travel? The bag that’s going to store all your belongings!
Osprey makes backpacking travel easy with their 40L travel backpacks (Fairview for women and Fairpoint for men). This bag meets the carry-on restrictions for most airlines.
After finding out about packing cubes, I can no longer go back to the days without them. These sturdy ultralight packing cubes are a must-have accessory for organized travel! They accompany me on every trip!
Action Cameras
Light? Waterproof? Action camera? All checked! The GoPro Hero is my go-to for filming underwater actions!
For anything above water, the Insta360 is my new favorite camera! It takes amazing 360 degree videos so you’ll never miss the action again.
Plus their selfie stick is magically edited out of their video automatically! I also have the 3m long stick so I can fake a drone shot :)
Walking Shoes
Never never sacrifice comfort when you’re out and about! It’s not an exaggeration that the shoes you wear can make or break your long awaited vacation.
My personal favorites are TEVAs (sandals for the summer) and Adidas (their cloud foam soles!!).
Allbirds is a popular choice amongst many travelers. Not only are the designs super cute, these shoes are also machine washable!
